Key Vocabulary

Privacy Settings: Privacy settings are controls available on many social networking and other websites that allow users to limit who can access your profile and what information visitors can see.

Security Settings: Security settings are important to protect your computer from attacks. You will want to lock them down and keep others from seeing your private data. 

Default Settings: The default settings are automatically given to a software application, computer program or device. You will want to go into both the privacy and security settings and manage them to protect your computer and data.

  2. How would you feel if a picture was posted that you don't like?
  3. What do you know about the security settings for common social media sites such as Facebook (visit the Facebook safety center)?
  4. How important is it to create:
  • Strong passwords
  • Change them frequently
  • Not to use the default settings for security, make them private
  • How to protect your contacts and messages?
  • To get rid of accounts you don't use anymore or never did but set up?
