PhotoPeach Slideshows

PhotoPeach is a free online tool to help students tell stories using photos. With PhotoPeach students can create a slideshow that  engages viewers. Music, captions and comments can be added to elaborate their story. Students can share and receive feedback from their viewers.

Learning Objectives

Students will:

  • Understand that there is a beginning, middle and an end to a story.
  • Be able to create a slideshow with added captions to their photos.
  • Understand that using PhotoPeach will assist them in  creating a slideshow presentation.
  • Be able to create a slideshow presentation on a given topic, share and get feedback from viewers.

Vocabulary

  1. Slideshow: A slideshow is a presentation supplemented by or based on a series of projected images or photographic slides.

  2. Caption: A caption is a piece of text appearing on a movie or television screen as part of a movie or broadcast.

Pre-planning

  • Decide on topics for students.

  • Help students create accounts. A student username, email and password will be needed.

  • Watch the video tutorials:

  • Look at the online tutorial in the About Section of PhotoPeach. 

  • Create a folder with photos for students to access to use in the slideshows or have them use the Public Domain site PhotosForClass. It is a very large image library meant for students and they can easily be downloaded. 

Accommodations

Steps

  1. Set up student accounts.

  2. Assign topic to students or have them select their own.

  3. Student’s search for photos of their topic and save to downloads. You may want to have a folder full of appropriate photos for easy access - otherwise have them use PhotosforClass

  4. Click create new slideshow then upload photos.

  5. Select desired photos for slideshow.

  6. Students have the option to move photos by dragging. They can delete by moving to the deleted items category.

  7. Click NEXT.

  8. Give the slideshow a title.

  9. Student can select music that fits their slideshow.

  10. Click FINISH.

  11. Editing can be done once slide show is made by clicking the edit button on the top.

  12. To add captions click ADD CAPTIONS.

  13. To add captions to each photo, click on the photo in the bar at the top.

  14. When finished, click OK.

  15. These slideshows can be emailed, downloaded and link embedded on the toolbar to the right.

  16. Comments and feedback can be left directly on the slideshow.

  17. Re-editing can be done at anytime by clicking the edit button at the top.

MITECS: Michigan adopted the "ISTE Standards for Students" called MITECS (Michigan Integrated Technology Competencies for Students) in 2018.
