Students create a set of online flashcards from a Google spreadsheet. Flashcards are a great way for students to practice vocabulary, memorize the U.S. capitals, and much more on their own or with others.
- Be able to create a google spreadsheet and then with flippity.net turn it into a set of online flashcards.
- Be able to practice their vocabulary using flashcards.
- Tab: A tab is a second or further document or page that can be opened on a spreadsheet or web browser.
- See Accommodations Page and Charts on the 21things4students.net site in the Teacher Resources.
The teacher will irst demonstrate to the students how to create their own cards. The students will then create their own.
Have the students open www.flippity.net and click on Flippity Flashcards instructions.
Have them click on “make a copy of this template” in step one.
Click Make a Copy.
Rename a copy for the files.
Delete cells 3-29 so you can create your flashcards.
Under Side One list front of flash card. Example: Capital of Michigan
Under Side Two type in answer. Example: Lansing
After both columns are complete go to File and Publish to the Web.
Copy the link that is provided.
At the bottom of the Google spreadsheet click on “Get Link Here” tab.
The cards will be published.
- Check for understanding
- Quiz students on flashcards made.
- Partner with peer to quiz one another.
- Under the More tab create printable quiz.

MITECS: Michigan adopted the "ISTE Standards for Students" called MITECS (Michigan Integrated Technology Competencies for Students) in 2018.
