Description: This hybrid course is intended for ninth grade English students. The first 8 weeks cover basic reading and writing components; including plot structure, literary terms, reading strategies, and the writing process. All assignments are centered around three short stories: "The Most Dangerous Game" by Richard Connell, "The Gift of the Magi" by O. Henry, and "The Necklace" by Guy de Maupassant. The culminating project requires students to write an essay examing the literary merits of one of the required readings. Relevant grammar and vocabulary terms are also covered.
