Challenge: Robots! is an online game that will teach you about the engineering design process. Take on the role of an engineer at RoboWorks, a robotics factory, and solve real-world problems on land, sea or in the air.
1. Click on this link to open it (give it a few moments to load and when you see the Get Started bottom right corner select it) and go through the important Orientation.
2. Learn about robot parts by playing the "Build a Robot" game
3. Pick a challenge: Robotic Bees, Ocean Cleanup, or Tunnel Explorer (or do them all).
4. Write an initial Engineering Report:
- In three-four sentences describe your experience with this activity from National Geographic: what is something you learned, and about the learning game experience.
- Define something you feel is a real-world problem that might be able to solved by robots in the future
- Make a Learning List of two-three areas an engineer would need to learn more about to solve the problem you identified
- Draw the type of robot you think might be used to solve the problem and identify any specific parts needed and their functions
5. Option: Do some online research about the problem you identified. Has a scientist or engineer already explored the idea or developed a solution? Add this to your Engineering report.
