REMC Instructional Technology Specialists (RITS)

Michigan's 28 Regional Educational Media Centers are housed at intermediate school districts. The REMC staff often includes people who support the meaningful use of educational technology in the classroom.  Together these people form a statewide team known as the REMC Instructional Technology Specialists (RITS).

In general, these specialists provide:

  • coaching
  • direct support for local educators
  • customized professional learning
  • opportunities to learn and explore in a "safe" environment
  • awareness of trends
  • and much more

RITS members meet together regularly to collaborate, coordinate statewide professional learning, share best practices, and develop and implement new ideas to support Michigan learners.

When teachers attend professional learning events, they often leave full of new knowledge and a list overflowing with new apps, programs and skills to try out.  However, once they return to their classrooms they lack the time and support to actually try out these new tools.

The New Teacher PLAYDATE is for new Michigan educators to join together for a few hours to play. You’ll work together to learn about ed tech apps, programs and tools with one another. There are no presenters, no experts and no agenda.  Simply time to play, tinker and explore all at no cost

6 SCECHs available only for attendance at one PLAYDATE.
