Students will demonstrate learning by designing a slide using a collaborative presentation tool, such as Google Slides. Students may choose to use words, images, GIFS, or a combination of these in order to showcase their understanding of a given topic.

Present: To present is to show or demonstrate something for someone.
Demonstrate: To demonstrate is to give an explanation of something you know about, such as a skill, hobby, etc.
To prepare for this lesson:
- Teacher will need to have a working knowledge of the collaborative presentation tool that students will be expected to use.
- View the tutorials if needed.
- Teacher will need to create and share a Google Slides presentation (or another collaborative presentation tool), ensuring that there are enough blank slides created for each student to have his/her own slide to design.
- Teacher will determine a lesson wherein students will be able to demonstrate mastery through the creation of slide within a collaborative presentation tool. Please note that this activity will work with most lessons, but is not a good fit for answering questions that have identical answers (e.g., specific answers to math problems)
- Students must have a basic knowledge of how to use the collaborative presentation tool. This may require direct instruction and/or practice time for students to insert text-boxes, alter text, and insert images into their slides.

Directions for this activity:
After a given lesson or activity, students will be assigned a specific slide within an online collaborative presentation tool. (The teacher creates the slide presentation ahead of time to share with the students.)
The students will determine the best way to showcase their knowledge on a given topic and design a slide that demonstrates their overall understanding. The students may use words, images, graphics, GIFs or a combination of these in order to clearly illustrate understanding/mastery of a given topic.
Each student will have the opportunity to share and explain their slide and how it showcases his/her understanding.
The teacher will facilitate a discussion wherein students discuss similarities and differences between the slides.
Different options for assessing the students:

- An observation checklist may be used to assess students:
- I can demonstrate my understanding using a Google Slides
- I can effectively explain my thinking to my classmates.
- Slides demonstrating understanding may be used to assess mastery. These slides may be used as an exit ticket (or formative assessment), as well.
MITECS: Michigan adopted the "ISTE Standards for Students" called MITECS (Michigan Integrated Technology Competencies for Students) in 2018.
