Vinos Kassab new REMC 17 Director
The REMC Association is pleased to introduce Vinos Kassab as the new Director for REMC 17. Vinos is the Digital Learning and Computer Science Consultant for Oakland Schools and is replacing Laura Cummings who retired after serving for over a decade.
Vinos supports Oakland County districts with the latest educational technology tools, computer science and robotics. She is also a Computer Science Fundamentals facilitator in partnership with code.org, providing professional learning to K-8 teachers new to computer science. Prior to this role, Vinos was an English Language Learner paraeducator and went on to teach at both the elementary and middle school level. She also served as a math content area leader, coding club coach and educational technology lead.
Earning a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and a Master’s in Leadership and Administration, Vinos has also been involved in the statewide development and adoption of the CS standards for Michigan. As the REMC Director, she is looking forward to promoting the association’s resources, professional learning and projects to districts and educators in the county. She likes to spend her free time with her family reading, traveling, exercising and gardening.
