KEY VOCABULARY

Axis (Axes): Axes are the horizontal and vertical lines that label and organize a chart.

Chart: A chart is a visual way to show data, like a graph or picture.

Column Chart: A column chart is a chart that uses vertical bars to compare different groups or categories.

Common Factor: A common factor is a number that divides evenly into two or more numbers.

Emphasis: Emphasis is what a chart highlights or makes stand out.

Fraction: A fraction is a way to show part of a whole using a top number (numerator) and a bottom number (denominator).

Labels: Labels are words or numbers that tell what something in a chart represents.

Percentage: A percentage is a way to show a part of a whole out of 100. 

Pie Chart: A pie chart is a circle divided into slices that show how each part compares to the whole.

Proportion: A proportion is the size of each part compared to the whole (important for pie charts).

Trend: A trend is a pattern or change you notice in the data (ex, increasing, decreasing).
