Miscellaneous information for thoughtful consideration

Some Chatbots Statistics: By 2027, chatbots are predicted to become the primary channel for customer service in 1/4 of all businesses (Gartner), primarily because of the quick response time, quick access to information, and to route calls to relevant departments or agents.

Some considerations:

  • "Friendships are among the most important connections individuals make in life and a critical component of psychological health and wellbeing in lifespan development", (Erikson, 1968).
  • "Social chatbots are artificial intelligence (AI) dialogue systems capable of having social and empathetic conversations with users (Ho et al., 2018; Zhou et al., 2020)."

FYI: Some benefits, concerns, and future needs about chatbots in education...

  • "The research findings emphasize the numerous benefits of integrating AI chatbots in education, as seen from both students' and educators' perspectives.
    • We found that students primarily gain from AI-powered chatbots in three key areas: homework, and study assistance, a personalized learning experience, and the development of various skills."
    • 'Concerns from this literature review were related to AI applications such as reliability, accuracy, digital inequality and ethical considerations' (Source of this review).
    • Conclusions of the review: "The findings emphasize the need to establish guidelines and regulations ensuring the ethical development and deployment of AI chatbots in education."
