Google Docs: Voice Typing (2:43)

With Google Docs, using the keyboard isn’t your only option to add text. You can also just talk and have Google Docs transcribe the words for you. You can use this feature to transcribe meetings and audio recordings, or simply when you want to write faster than you can type.

Watch the video above to learn more about voice typing in Google Docs.

Voice typing is only available in the Google Chrome web browser, and your computer must have a built-in or external microphone.

Open your poem document or other Google document. Put your cursor on the page, open the Tools Menu, Select Voice Typing, you may have to enable the microphone (select allow), click on the microphone icon that appears and start dictating and watch the words appear as you say them. Click on the microphone again to turn it off.

There are several methods to have Google Docs read the text aloud to you.

Using the Immersive Reader Extension

This video tutorial walks you through the different features. The Immersive Reader extension will need to be added from the Google PlayStore Search (use this link).
